So I’ve written about creating your own home gym a couple of times on SPP before here and here. To continue with the series, I will look at how to go about choosing the best treadmill for your home and body type. I beleive there shouldn’t be any excuse for not woring out. I get that a lot of women don’t feel comfortable in gyms and it may not be safe to go walkign or runnign outside. But there is always your home and you should take full advantage of it.
Treadmills offer a great way to have a great workout from the comfort of your home. Choosing the right treadmill is important to ensure you get a great workout. Below you’ll find all you need to know to choose the best treadmill for you.
The Right Dimensions
When purchasing a treadmill you want to make sure it is comfortable to use and right fit for your height. Most people when purchasing or using a treadmill will need to make sure it has a belt that is 48 inches long and 18 inches wide. If you’re taller than average you will need to purchase a treadmill with a wider belt. Also it’s important to make sure that the hand rails are at a comfortable position and are easy to reach and use.
Check the Display
Treadmill displays can come with all sorts of bells and whistles. Some have fans, most offer the ability to incline the treadmill and others to decline and heart rate monitors are a popular feature many people seek to have on a treadmill. When choosing a treadmill be sure to play around with the display to see if it is easy to use and has all the features you are looking utilize.
A Need for Speed
One of the reasons people prefer treadmills for their walking or running workouts is that it allows them to adjust the speed of their workouts. As with any of the features of a treadmill the levels and speeds offered vary widely between machines. When choosing a treadmill make sure you find one that can accommodate the workouts you’re looking to have.
Have a Warranty
A treadmill is a big purchase and you want to make sure you have a quality warrant to protect your investment. You want to check the details of the warranty that comes with your treadmill. Different warranties offer different coverage based on the use of the treadmill as well as the weight of those using the treadmill. Make sure the warranty covers parts and repair for at least year. And make sure defects by the manufacturer are covered for the life of the treadmill.
Space is an Issue
Most treadmills can fold up and fit nicely into ay space. You want to make sure that whatever treadmill you get fits nicely into whatever space you have reserved for it in your home. If there is a chance you will be moving your treadmill often you want to make sure it is a model that will be easy to move around.
