Hey All!!

Seems like a while since we have gotten together!  I have been super busy with summer outings and such, but I have missed you all and will be trying to catch up!  Got me some coffee (my water of life) and a fiber bar, got my run in, my wig on – I’m ret’ to go!

First up -  A Big Hello and Welcome to Sandra!  180 to 169 – YES!  You Can Do It!  In fact, you are doing it!!  Keep up the great work, and if you send an email to Ms. Johnson with your address or PO Box, I will send you a shirt and a hoodie!  Hey are you on our Sweet Potato Pie Team?

Second, Allo to Ms. ZDubb.   Press. The. Publish. Key.    And let’s hear some more from you!

Big Hi to Casper – you will be hearing from him soon!  Hope he sends some footage of him kickboxing….

Hello to Tully and Holly, my weight loss blogging sisters.

Shout out to Khadija and all the girls at the spa…Special howdy-do to Thor…..

And a special shout out to my “Cuz’s” the Fields!!  Hey all!!  Thanks for you comments and support! It was great meeting all of you - looking forward to Atlanta!!

And as always – hey to Ms. Johnson, who is taking a sabbatical – have a good vacation!  But don’t stop running! ;)

Well, last week was a whirlwind of excitement.  Not only did I have a family reunion to attend, but my bro-bro came in from out of town, aaand I was still painting the house next door to me.  I also took some time out to date, and see some good friends.

All of these activites involved  – FOOD!!  Lots of it!!  From the wonderful fried fresh fish that was brought up from Arkansas, to the great mom-pop restaurants to the movie popcorn, and those DAMN NILLA WAFERS – Ms. Tracy had it coming at her from all sides.  And, truthfully, I gave in.  Life is not all about calorie counting and worrying about how many points are in your burger (20  – Yikes!!)….  Sometimes life is about sitting down, having a beer, some good food and a lot of laughs with people that you love……

Then it is about running your ass off trying to make up for that pound of sweet potato french fries that you just HAD to have….and could you have put any MORE tartar sauce on that fish?  Now, my eating didn’t get totally out of control – except for that box of Nilla Wafers.  I have no will power with those evil things! I did enjoy, but I enjoyed with limits. And you know what?  Those two pieces of fish were just as satisfying as having six, I said no to dessert after the gonzo burger and fries, and one margarita did me just fine .  Moderation folks, the spice of life….Eat what you want, just not as much ( or more than you need)….

Yes, my friends, I gave in…..but I didn’t give it up!  If I overate, I compensated for it by adding more exercise.  Did I mention the fact to you that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE RUNNING!?!   No matter what the scale said – and it was moving up there, about three pounds – I kept up the exercise.  If I could, I would sneak in an extra run – yes, I have turned into a running geek!

But it paid off, cuz as of Monday morning, July 20th, I weighed in at 166 point something or other…..91 pounds down!  HA HA I AM SHE-RA GODDESS OF ALL I SURVEY!!  Getting closer to my goal of 153 and closer to being – dare I say it – “normal” on the BMI chart.  Normal and healthy weight – a wildest dream about to come true!

Speaking of wildest dreams (taking a page from Khadija)  – I had one come true last weekend.  The two pictures  above are of me and my two younger brothers.  I am the eldest and the only girl – spoiled city, I know.  But I have also been the biggest kid in my family for as long as I can remember.  The second photo was taken at a family reunion two years ago.  The top photo was taken last weekend – I am no longer the biggest one!!  Look at them guns!  On top of that, my brother Brandon is a Marine – has been for 21 years!  His first night home, we went for a 5 mile run and I kept up with him every step of the way!!   Both of my bro’s are amazed at how I am changing and are two more of my biggest supporters.

Random thought – I have decided that I will stop complaining about my boobs.  I took a good look at myself yesterday and realized that what I have been blessed with (boobs, lips, nice skin, cheekbones) other people pay out of the waz for.  I always had an idea of what I would look like once the weight started to come off, but I must say that I am more than surprised and pleased with what I am seeing now.  I have no more excuses to hate or doubt myself, so no more – I embrace all of me!

So folks, what more can I tell you to convince you that this is a ride worth taking.  Do it for your health, do it to look good, do it to make your family sick, whatever  JUST DO IT – CUZ YOU CAN DO IT!!

Til next time – the Ms. Tracy Fashion Show is on the way!

  4. Hi, I have been reading your blog for a while now but never commented. I just wanted to say you are really an inspiration. You and I have similar approaches to weight loss. I run, kickbox, and now I’m taking Zumba dance classes, but I also joined Weight Watchers. I have lost 15 lbs so far but I stopped tracking in May/June actively and have plateued seriously! I am back to tracking because I realize that even though I can work out vigorously, the scale might not budge downwards without careful monitoring of what I put in my mouth. It’s hard! You make it sound so easy though. Please do keep up the good work. You are truly motivating!

    • Go Girl!! You are tearing it up!!

Keep moving, you will get off of your plateau soon – just don’t give up!

Here is a little Ms. Tracy “secret” – when I would hit a wall, I would eat a little more to confuse my body – sometimes the body gets used to the old routine, so I would shake it up! My favorite thing to do was (and still is!) to go to Long John Silvers or a good hamburger joint and (still using my points and some extra points) have a good fatty meal! Also, I would up my water intake! I would keep exercising and by the next week, my plateau would be over! Now, mind you, I would only have this meal once a week – do go out and eat up a bunch of hush puppies and blame me! ;)

The key to weight loss success is perserverance and realizing that it aint all about twigs and berries, but balance. Let me know how that works for you if you try it!

You can do it!! Thanks for commenting – glad to be your motivator!!
